2007 CHARDONNAY
WINE MAKING NOTES
The fruit for this wine is a blend of Mendoza, Clone 15, Clone 95 and Clone 6 Chardonnay, which was grown in the stoney sand soils of the lower terrace at Askerne Vineyard. The fruit was then harvested and pressed with fractions kept seperate.
The wine was fermented and aged for 9 months in French (89%) and American (11%) oak barrels, 28% of which was new. Lees stirring was undertaken to develop mealy, nutty characters. 60% of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation.

Tasting Notes
The resulting wine continues the elegant coplex style pursued in our handling of this variety. Mealy, nutty characters are evident on the nose together with grapefruit, stonefruit and smokey oak.
These flavours flow through to the palate, whic reflects an excellent balance of clean fruit with well integrated oak. The wine is elegant and rounded with a rich, creamy texture making it an excellent food wine.
Aging potential 3-5 years
The wine will compliment fish, chicken and pork dishes.
