Welcome to the Askerne Estate Winery website.

Askerne is a single estate winery situated in the winegrowing region of Hawke's Bay, New Zealand .  We are committed to producing elegant fine wines that reflect our unique site and our winemaking philosophy and passion.

The Askerne vineyard and winery was developed by John and Kathryn Loughlin in 1993.  Initially purchased as 28 acres of bare river terraces, the property has been expanded to 50 acres which are being progressively planted.

We aspire to produce wines which complement food but are vibrant and exciting when standing alone.

Askerne is named after an old Yorkshire Spa town which was the birth place of Kathryn Loughlin.  The trees on the label are a representation of the gum trees, which are a major feature of the winery site.

 2010 CONCERT SEASON

Update re Beat Girls 2010 concert

The Beat Girls played as scheduled on 31 January 2010. They have played in worse conditions and the sound crew judged that it was safe for the concert to proceed. A small number of concert goers enjoyed the show in muddy conditions.

Around noon on the day of the concert we made the decision to proceed in accordance with the advertised terms that the concert would go ahead "rain, hail or shine" and no "refunds". The weather forecast for the "rain day on Monday"was worse and ground conditions would certainly have been worse. We were concerned that the extreme conditions would prevent many people enjoying the concert in the way that they hoped and we intended. Thus we decided to give customers the choice of attending in the wet conditions or exchanging their tickets for tickets at one of our concerts next year. Our decision is different from the way others handle these situations, but was one of principle and reflects our appreciation of your support for our concerts. We hadn't given much thought as to how we would work the exchange on Sunday.

We've now given some thought as to how we might do the ticket exchange. Its administatively harder than we thought but we will make it work.

We would like you to email Christine at christineh@askerne.co.nz letting her know your ticket numbers and contact details so that she can contact you when we have finalised our events program for 2011. Then please keep your tickets in a safe place to exchange them when the time comes.

We will work on a aprogram for next year. That's always a challenge as  we need to sort out who is available, dates, costs, what's happpening with competing events etc. We are planning to have the Beat Girls again in 2011.

When we have our programme sorted out we will email you with the choices. You will be able to exchange your tickets for equivalent value in terms of tickets for an event in 2011.

Thank you for your patience. We appreciate your support of our concerts and our wines.
